16 12 2008 Ok i won't :)

12 12 2008 So pretty is it not?

While you're strolling along the river to see this view, or anywhere in Shanghai for that matter, you meet many, many touts. They speak good English save for the words 'no thank you.'

12 12 2008 The Shanghai skyline in front of a poster.

The building in the shape of a can opener is the Shanghai World Financial Centre. It is the highest in China and -until now- the 3rd highest in the world after Burj Dubai and Taipei 101.

22 11 2008 A magic scene in Ulaanbaatar by night

Welders creating fireworks.

22 11 2008 How much for this head?

Mongolians like their meat for dinner and for lunch and ... for breakfast.

21 11 2008 Four of my best students.

This was on my last day as a teacher, which involved much pictures taking, much email exchanging, and much playing games.

21 11 2008 One of my worst students. But adorable.

15 11 2008 Sumyasuren, aka little chicken

Sumyasuren is the daughter of my school headmaster, and she liked to eat peanuts for dinner :)

She also liked to touch my beard. She explained why, but in Mongolian, therefore this will remain a mystery.

11 11 2008 A ger district in the oustkirts of Ulaanbaatar.

The outskirts of the capital still have gers (yurts) but downtown is in solid communist Russia style: large imposing buildings cut by large avenues.

21 11 2008 Please stand up for this video

Excerpt of the Monolian national anthem sung by one of my classes. I was too busy holding the camera, that's why you don't hear me sing along ;)

01 11 2008 In the mountains of Mongolia 2

Another one, just for the music!

We were on the way to a soon-to-be-opened tourist area where a giant statue of Genghis Khan has been built. The people in the car were among the architects who built the campground around the statue.

01 11 2008 In the mountains of Mongolia 1

Mongolia is thousands of km of such incredible landscapes. The problem when you're a vegetarian is that as soon as you leave the capital, you're left with very little to eat. Outside meat, there is milk. And outside that, there is, well, more meat, or more milk.

And at one point, he (the husband of the colleague of my couchsurfing host Digi) let me drive :)
